Very Large Example of an English (Cumbrian) Mineral Spar Tower
A Very Large Example of an English (Cumbrian) Mineral Spar Tower
Made from crystals / minerals mined by Tin Miners in the north of England during the Victorian period, these towers together with shadow boxes / diorama’s were entered into competitions where the miners would contest against each other for prize exhibits
These rare survivals are increasingly hard to find, the current example being the largest (tallest) example we have ever had
The last large collection to surface was held by Lord McAlpine, and was sold at auction in the 1990’s (West Green House) since when few examples have come onto the market
Together with its original glass dome
